The Town of Howey-in-the-Hills, by Charter, has a "strong Mayor-Council" form of government.  The strong Mayor-Council form of government combines the political leadership of the elected officials who, as the Town Council, establish the policies and laws of the Town, and the Mayor is responsible, through the various Departments and Boards, for their implementation and execution.

Under Departments you will find the pages for the Mayor and Town Council, the Town Clerk, the Howey Police Department, the Public Works Department/Water Department.  Also included are descriptions and links to the numerous volunteer Boards of the Town, including Planning, Zoning, Parks and Recreation, Historical Preservation, Cemetery, Code Enforcement, and Library.

Information on our Town Parks and recreational facilities is presented in the Community Services link.  Information is also available on Taylor Memorial Cemetery.

The Howey Library is one of the Town's most prized assets.   Find out how this remarkable community library got its start and where it's headed today!

The name "Howey-in-the-Hills" always brings a multitude of questions as to where the name originated, are there really any hills in Florida, and was there really a Mr. Howey?  Discover the answers to these questions and more as the Town prepares for its 75th birthday in the year 2000.

A Website worth its "salt" would not be complete without links to other interesting sites.  From here you can venture to the Town's Code, and many other cities' codes as well, on the Internet through the Municipal Code Corporation site.  We'll also link you to other government and local interest sites.  Check it out!
