We Welcome you to the Town of Howey-in-the-Hills and are pleased to have you as a customer of the Water System for the Town.  Our goal is to provide you with quality water and quality service.  If you have a question about your bill or a problem that needs attention, please do not hesitate to call 324-2264 and let us help you.  

 Water Deposit:    

Deposit is $150.00 and a $30.00 turn on fee. Only the $150.00 deposit is a refundable amount.        

Water Rates:

Minimum bill $21.85 per month for the first 10,000 gallons; 

10,001 - 15,000 gallons is $1.55 for each additional 1,000 gallons;

15,001 - 20,000 gallons is $1.75 for each additional 1,000 gallons;

Over 20,000 gallons is $1.85 for each additional 1,000 gallons.

Due Date:

On or before the 15th of the month.  Payments received after 2:00 p.m. will be recorded the following business day.  Payments may be mailed or brought to Town Hall Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.,or placed in the drop box available to the right side of the front door.

Late Charges:

A 10% penalty will be assessed on payments received after the 15th of the month.

Delinquent Bills:

Accounts that are allowed to become delinquent will be subject to discontinuation of service for non-payment.  Any account   shut- off for non-payment will be assessed a $50.00 reconnection fee during regular business hours and $75.00 after business hours.  

Garbage & Recycling:

Garbage collection is each Monday and Thursday morning, curbside. Recycling is each Thursday morning, curbside.  Please have your garbage and recycling curbside by 6:00a.m.  

Onyx has a special pickup schedule on Wednesdays which allows you to dispose of large items such as furniture and appliances.  To schedule  a special pick up please call 352-429-5736 ext. 103 or ext. 108 and someone at Onyx will be glad to assist you.  

Yard waste pick-up is also on Wednesdays and should be bundled to no more than 4' in length or bagged to not more than 50 pounds. Garbage and Yard waste are not interchangeable in the Onyx containers. Only garbage will be picked up in the Onyx containers; not yard waste. And only Yard waste will be picked up in bags or other containers; not garbage. 

The charge for garbage pick up is $20.50 per month, recycling is included. This charge is included on your monthly water bill.
